Hypo God (“Hypo God,” “we,” “us”) is a practice tool for law school exams. You write timed practice answers, and we grade them and show you where your time went. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. It applies to hypogod.com and the Hypo God app (the “Service”).
The short version. We collect your account details, the materials you upload, and your practice answers, including a timed record of how you typed them in our exam editor. We use them to grade you, coach you, and improve Hypo God. We send your materials and answers to our AI provider (OpenAI) to do that. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use advertising trackers. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google.
- Profile and settings: your school, your courses and professors, your exam dates, and your practice settings (time limits, word limits, and similar).
- Materials you upload: course outlines, practice exams, model answers, grading memos, and any other documents or text you add.
- Your practice answers: the text you write, plus the prompts and requests you type (for example, “give me a hypo on personal jurisdiction”).
- Messages to us: anything you send when you contact support or give feedback.
Information we record while you practice
- Your writing timeline: while you write in Hypo God’s exam editor, we record each edit with a timestamp: what you typed, what you deleted, and when. We also record pauses and the phases of your attempt (reading, outlining, writing). This is what lets us show you how long you spent on each issue. We record only what you type inside the Hypo God exam editor. We don’t record keystrokes in other apps, other browser tabs, or elsewhere on your device.
- Results: the grades, issue analysis, timing analytics, and coaching we generate for each attempt.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data: your IP address, browser and device type, and basic request logs, used for security, abuse prevention, and keeping the Service working.
- Bot protection: on sign-up and sign-in we use Cloudflare Turnstile, which looks at browser and device signals to tell people from bots.
- Cookies: we use a cookie that keeps you signed in. It’s essential, so it can’t be turned off. We don’t use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
- Site analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure page speed. It doesn’t use cookies, and it doesn’t track you across other sites.
2. How we use your information
- To run the Service: create your account, generate practice hypos, grade your answers, and produce your insights and coaching.
- To personalize it: use your outline and course materials to keep practice within what you’ve studied, and compare your attempts so we can show you how you’re improving.
- To improve Hypo God: we keep practice data and use it to evaluate and improve the Service, including the quality and accuracy of our grading and AI features. Where we can, we use de-identified or aggregated data for this.
- To keep it safe: prevent fraud, abuse, and spam; enforce usage limits; and secure accounts.
- To communicate with you: about your account, security, and changes to the Service.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. AI processing
Hypo God uses AI models from OpenAI to generate hypos, read your outlines, grade your answers, and write your insights. To do that, we send OpenAI the relevant materials, your answers, and data derived from your writing timeline.
- Under OpenAI’s API terms, data sent through its API isn’t used to train OpenAI’s models by default.
- OpenAI processes this data in the United States. It may keep request logs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring. Some AI sessions are stored by OpenAI until we delete them.
- AI output can be wrong. Grades and coaching are practice feedback, not a prediction of your actual exam grade, and not legal advice.
